As part of a division of Keystone Human Services, Susquehanna Service Dogs trains service dogs to aid individuals with disabilities. I was took a class with a gentlemen who raised puppies for the program and his enthusiasm and passion for their mission was amazing. Even better, the organization is based in south-central Pennsylvania!
Susquehanna Service Dogs is a member of Assistance Dogs International or ADI. Part of ADI’s mission is to “establish and promote standards of excellence in all areas of Assistance Dog acquisition, training and partnership” as well as to “educate the public to the benefits of Assistance Dogs and ADI membership.”
Interested in helping out Susquehanna Service Dogs? Aside from always welcoming monetary support, the group has a wide variety of volunteer needs. Consider helping at their PawsAbilities event each Spring at the PA Farm Show Complex. If puppies are your passion, consider becoming a Puppy Raiser. Helping can also be as simple as donating your used ink and toner cartridges to Cartridges for Canines! I just found out about this program and I’m definitely going to start saving mine!
